Notes from the Mat
During my mediation this morning I had a hard time quitting my mind. I decide to accept the thought that were racing through my mind (checking out a new book that was recommended to me). Then I counted my breaths for the next ten minutes. I find counting breaths to be a very centering exercise.

Notes from the Mat
Quick meditation is that an oxymoron? This morning I was running late and was ready to skip my meditation for the day. Then I decided to sit for twenty slow breaths. Thankful that I did, I found that the time spent was centering and focusing for the outlook of my day.

Notes from the Mat
Simplicity of a practice with the devotion of a lifetime, to achieve what is already present. I sit on my cushion with the inhale and exhale of breathe, my body becomes barely noticeable to my waking thought. Ambient music, wind rustling, birds chirping, sounds arise in a solitary instant. No direction of resonance only the total encompassing condition. This is being centered, a term I can only express in sentiment, not a definable word that I can explain in characterization.

Tuesday morning, a warm spring gentle wind flows through my window, budding trees, blossoming flowers fills the aroma, birds chirping, Bach quietly plays on the stereo, and I can hear my wife & daughter playing outside. All of this arises in my awareness, this is peace. I inhale I exhale…
